Some say Pigeonfilm was the result of a couple of poor film students living in an old victorian house swarmed by the flying rodents that serve as the company's namesake. They weathered the mounds of feathers and poop so they could pour their finances and their souls into making a stand out thesis film, Zombie Jesus!, which has gone on to delight and offend audiences in equal measure.

But Pigeonfilm's true roots were established over several years and many successful collaborations within a core group of dedicated up and coming filmmakers. The director / producer team have joined forces on projects dating back to their very first awkward attempts with black and white wind up film cameras. They have since made everything from compelling documentaries to chilling experimental pieces, and of course the occasional sacrilegious comedy.

They have developed close ties to other equally passionate and talented filmmakers; and it is through these relationships and a commitment to telling meaningful stories that Pigeonfilm continues to develop projects to make audiences laugh and think.

Steve Miller Steve Miller

Steve Miller developed his creative roots at a young age writing and illustrating short stories. His interest over time became more focused on the visual arts, from sketching and painting to the then emerging field of computer animation. Attending Ryerson University, Steve proved successful in a diverse range of filmmaking modes, from animation to documentary to narrative fiction. While his primary focuses include writing, directing and editing, Steve’s visual arts background continues to assert itself with his post effects and motion graphics work. In addition to an aesthetic eye, Steve infuses his films with social or political commentaries, often choosing a humorous rather than heavy-handed approach to his ideas. Steve has recently completed his most ambitious work to date, the 12 minute comedy-horror, Zombie Jesus! which premiered at Ryerson University Film Festival in May 2007.

Steve Miller Jason Wagar

With a background in the philanthropic sector, Jason turned to filmmaking to use it as a creative and cultural tool to tell stories with a social message. Originally from Kingston, Ontario, Jason has always been keenly involved in art and culture, leading him to explore many different mediums before he discovered his interest in film. It was this passion that lead him to study film at Ryerson University’s School of Image Arts in Toronto. There, Jason produced a number of short films: fiction, documentary, and experimental. Studying at the School of Image Arts presented Jason with the opportunity to study internationally at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia. He is now studying for his Masters degree at Cass Business School of City University in London, England. Zombie Jesus! is his latest work, and is currently touring the film festival circuit.
